Breakups suck…especially if you really love someone. Let’s take The Dumper: They dumped you, they feel empowered, confident that they were the one who ended it, does not want contact. The Dumpee: Sad they got dumped, lost, hopeless, depressed, want answers, want to maintain contact. Suggestions: The Dumpee is going to try to contact the Dumper right after the breakup…it happens. That’s okay as long as they are not threats. If the Dumpee gets told to take a hike, it’s only because the fires are still hot. Don’t worry for now. Give it time (2 weeks to a month) to let things cool down. Eventually, the Dumper will contact you if they want to clear the air. Remember, Dumpers are STUBBORN and will hold fast to their decision. The Dumpee has to be strong and be willing to take emotional "hits" during this time, and not to fall apart at the seams. Dumpees should engage in ALWAYS keeping busy with activities in the interim, such as work, sports, other friends, etc. Downtime is the EMOTIONAL KILLER for the Dumpee…do not succumb to it. Just stay busy and keep a cool head about it. If the bonds of love are truly still there, and the Dumper realizes they lost a good thing…they will find you. Trust me on that.
